From the website:

"Hello. We made a brand new handheld gaming system.

It’s yellow. It fits in your pocket. It’s got a beautiful black and white screen. It’s not super cheap, but not super expensive. It includes brand new games from some amazing creators. Plus it has a crank."

@james It probably won't do very well commercially, problem being is that everybody now has very powerful minicomputers on their person 24/7 as it is, they really don't need another device with a B/W screen and a weird crank. Which I original thought was to make it recharable which would have been something to set it apart, but it appears to be just another control method.

But as a one off niche product with a limited run, it's a cool little thing that'll make people stare on the tube 😉

@notdrawingattention yeah, I don't think it will have mainstream success, they even said they will be the sole retailer. But I think it will do well with indie game fans and homebrew developers 😄

@james That looks awesome!! is it Christmas already?? :blobaww:

@james wana trade?
Oh... no internet.
GOOD TIMES! ❤️ ❤️

@james @Littleivo @087orion that pretty much says the only one that you want to backlight is the GBA and that's the one I want to do anyhow

@diapered_audio_file that's good then! I thought you were talking about the GBC.. time for bed 😂

@james funny thing after I looked at it more I decided to mod both of them now that the kit for the GBC has been greatly improved, as long as you put a new lens on it, they come in glass instead of the original plastic and they look sweet rebranded gameboy color light so I ordered a freckleshack from the next run along with a 101 swap kit for my GBA

@james I won't see the screen for the GBC until about July but the AGS-101 screen for my AGB-001 should be here friday, no clue on the brightness controller I ordered for it though, at least while the Royal Mail's servers are down

@james I got an X3 and it's been amazing, the only difference really is I have to squeeze the cart after I save to trigger a soft reboot of the console, games that don't save though, just turn it off like normal. but FYI there's a battery in yours to allow for saving without a soft reboot. if you have an original cart that saves you may want to replace the sabe battery, it's not hard to do, just have to have the right screwdriver

@james it should get a touch brighter when I get the brightness controller and fit it but I'm debating whether or not to install it, I'm dreading taking it back apart in a few minutes to get some lint out from one of the times I had to pull it apart to get it to close without being too tight

@diapered_audio_file sounds tricky, but I’m really considering doing this to my GBC now

@james look into bennvenn's "Freckle Shack" kit, they're pre-order though for like batch 5 and you have to get a new front lens from jellybelly customs to match up with it since it's a bit smaller than the original display but I think the backlight is worth the slight reduction in screen size and it's almost completely drop in, just have to cut some pins down and mask them and cut a little of the inside of the shell, can't wait till mine comes in, it'll be a few months

@james and they look cool with the new branding, looks like what it would have been if nintendo had actually added a backlight
